Armstrong
Associates, Inc.
Probably
the most unusual thing about Armstrong Associates, is
that its principal owner, Earl Armstrong, doesn't think
the innovative, award-winning construction company is
unusual. Based in Santa Barbara, the 21-year-old firm
is well-known for the variety of its completed projects
and its flexibility to handle both residential and commercial
construction. |

Enchantment
Homes, Inc.
While
she strives for individuality in every home she builds,
Debbie McComb's philosophy for her work as a general contractor
has remained the same throughout her tenure as someone
very involved in the trades: She is determined to make
the experience happy and the final product rewarding.
Initially a real estate agent, then as an assistant to
a developer, and now co-owner and president of Enchantment
Homes, Inc., Solvang, with Rod Simmons, Debbie has developed
a reputation as one of the most personable general contractors
on the South and Central Coast in California. |

Hanover
Builders, Inc.
If
one were restricted to a single word, "foundations"
would be the best word to describe Don Hanover, high-end
custom homebuilder and owner of Hanover Builders, Inc.,
based in Westlake Village. Not only is Don a third-generation
contractor with an extensive background in framing and
concrete, he also has an education in business management
and has been in the industry long enough to see some of
his original clients calling him again to build them a
second residence. |

H.
W. Holmes, Inc., & Design House '03
Construction
and design have been a part of Hoyt W. Holmes’ life
ever since he was hired as a teenager to work in the construction
industry. After learning the basics and realizing he had
an aptitude for designing and for construction, Hoyt obtained
his contractor’s license and started in business
with a partner in the early 1980s. Even after he started
his own company, H.W. Holmes, Inc., eight years ago, Hoyt
has remained focused on originality and design on every
development and spec home he builds. |

R.
W. Smith Construction
In
the tradition of his father and grandfather, homebuilder
and general contractor Rob Smith lists quality and integrity
as the two most important items he offers to his clients
– both are printed on the top of his business
card and are stated in his company motto. "Quality
means doing the best job possible in every circumstance
and integrity means doing the right thing, even when
no one is looking," Rob explains. |

Weyrich
Development
The
large metal company logo hanging near the entry in the
main office is embossed with gold, as are all the company
cards and most of its brochures. And well they should
be – it’s as if the name Weyrich has the
Midas touch: everything that the name Weyrich endorses
turns into a profitable investment, especially its construction
arm, Weyrich Development. |

Robert
Taylor & Associates
Growing
up with his carpenter brother as his mentor, Robert Taylor
knew from childhood that he wanted to be a home builder.
From his initial elaborate tree-house creations to building
high-end homes in Chicago to now being known as one of
the most respected estate and custom home builders in
Santa Barbara, he has come full circle and is now a mentor
himself, not only to his son who recently joined the company,
but also to the dozens of home owners in Montecito and
Santa Barbara who live in homes built over the last 23
years by Robert Taylor & Associates. |
